Winter is Coming

Winter is coming!
We had some snow this morning on my commute into work. It melted as soon as it hit the road, but at -3C it looked white in the lights. Snow warning of 25 cm for an area north of our city for tomorrow. If stays to the north by the lakes all is good. If it changes direction, I will have to get the snow tires and the dog sled out of the shop attic.
. I have to say its too early for the snow to stay. The ground is not cold enough yet.
With "Da Hood"  I can still commute to work is a pair of shorts and a cycling Jersey at -3C. The Durano tires are doing great so far with no flats yet. I have over 4000 km so far on this second set and they wearing better than the first set. I already have 4 new front tires and 2 new rear tires for next year in my shop. Now I wonder if they will last until Winter gets here...

  1. Brrrrr. That's so cold compared to Dutch standards... We had 16 degrees PLUS today, I was sweating so much! Thank God I don't live in Canada, I really dislike winters... (didn't want to use the word "hate")

  2. Hi Kevin, I do like winters, I love to iceskate over the lakes, I love the snow. But there are a few things I do not like: the short days, and the cold, although necessary for the ice. I purchased a hood for the velo, and I am hoping it will arrive soon. Safe journeys in winter!

  3. Hi Kevin,

    Groet Matthijs

  4. Hi Kevin,

I'm not at all envious on your tempratures! Here in Norway it still is 8+ and rain, not so nice either, but nobody will have snow yet! Of course the winterseason can show us some beautiful scenery, but I agree with Wilco, the long darkness and the energy consuming low tempratures are not that nice!

    Greetings, Adri.

  5. Hi Kevin,

We saw our first snowflakes here on Tuesday. Chilly but not quite as cold as your place yet but the studded snow tires are waiting. I've been enjoying my hardtop for pre-dawn rides too. I'm wishing you a mild winter... mostly because whatever you get there, eventually slides down this direction.

    Gesundheit, Stuart

  6. Hi everyone.
If I write about our cold winters here in Canada, you will feel better about your milder winters where you live. But no matter where you live, you have to make the best of what you have. No snow staying yet on the ground, but in the North part of our province it is winter already. I'll post some pictures my friends took this week in Churchill.
